Enyimba on Wednesday qualified for the group stage of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup after playing a goalless draw with South African side Bidvest Wits in Calabar, but Akwa United and MFM crashed out of the competition.
A 1-1 draw in the first leg in Johannesburg, gave Enyimba the ticket on the away goals rule.
Akwa, who lost the first leg in Omdurman 2-0, beat Sudanese side Al Hilal 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo to draw the tie 3-3 on aggregate but they crashed on away goals rule. MFM held their hosts Djoliba to a goalless draw in Bamako but a 1-0 loss at the Agege Stadium condemned them to exit the competition.
In the Uyo game, the visitors took the lead in the 26th minute after their captain Basheer tapped home a rebound from a shot spilled by Ojo Olorunleke.
But Denis Nya drew Akwa level in the stoppage time of the first half before Michael Ibe then netted twice in the second half.
Akwa failed to get the all-important fourth goal that would have taken them to the group stage of the competition as their forwards were wasteful.
Akwa and MFM joined Plateau United, who crashed out of the competition on Tuesday after a 5-2 aggregate loss to Algerian side USM Alger.
