Two goals early in the first half gave Celtic the advantage over Linfield in this UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round clash at Windsor Park.
The Scottish visitors moved in front after 17 minutes when a James Forrest cross into the area was touched home by Scott Sinclair despite Mark Haughey’s efforts to get to deal with the danger.
Then, five minutes after that, Tom Rogić doubled Celtic’s lead after finishing off a low Leigh Griffiths corner.
Haughey might have pulled a goal back only to fire over from a Chris Casement right-sided cross while, after half-an-hour, Celtic were denied by Roy Carroll who did well to deny Scott Sinclair’s curling effort.
After the break Andrew Waterworth went close twice for Linfield but Mikael Lustig and then Sinclair again threatened for Celtic.
Carroll was called into action to keep out Stuart Armstrong’s half-volley before, later in the second half, he produced a superb double save to keep out Moussa Dembélé and Lustig’s follow up.
