Iwobi, Omeruo, Akpeyi, Mikel, Ogu, Solomon-Otabor Earn Nigerian Team Of The

After another week of football which put a host of Nigerians yet on show, sportandstudy.org brings to readers the ones who proved delightful enough to catch the limelight in its Team of the Week.


Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United): The Super Eagles goalkeeper was between the sticks for the Chilli Boys in their 1-1 draw with Ajax Cape Town in a PSL game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.


Kenneth Omeruo (Kasimpasa): The Chelsea loanee was on from start to finish as Kasimpasa bested Karabukspor 2-0 at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stadium in the Turkish topflight.

Uche Agbo (Standard Liege): Agbo came on in the second period to help his side to a 1-0 victory over FC Gent in their Belgian First Division game at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne.

John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva): The 29-year old was on song to help his team to a 2-2 draw versus Hapoel Haifa in their Israeli topflight clash at the Turner Stadium.

Mikel Obi (Tianjin Tera): The Super Eagles skipper opened his season account for the Tianjin Tigers in their 2-1 win over Guangzhou R&F in a CSL clash at the Tianjin Olympic Center.

Abdul Ajagun (Kortrijk): Ajagun struck his eight goal of the season as Kortrijk claimed a 2-0 win over Lierse in the Belgian First Division A playoff at the Herman Vanderpoorten Stadium.


Alex Iwobi (Arsenal): The Super Eagle was impressive for the Gunners in their 2-1 loss to Newcastle in their Premier League clash at St James Park.

Viv Solomon-Otabor (Blackpool): The Birmingham City loanee is having a banner season, with his goal against Fleetwood Town his fifth in the league from an impressive 41 appearances.

Shola Ameobi (Notts County): The ex-Super Eagle was on the score sheet for Notts County in their 3-1 win over Colchester United in League Two at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
