Jose Mourinho lavishes praise on Javier Hernandez ahead of West Ham move

Good player

Jose Mourinho’s admiration for Javier Hernandez has never been in doubt.

The Manchester United manager has made it clear on more than one occasion he never would have sold Hernandez had he been in charge of the club during the player’s time there, and he’s often spoken about his ability to score goals.

Now, ahead of Chicharito’s move to West Ham United, Mourinho has once again come out in support of him – and managed to put some pressure on his board while he was at it, making it clear he expects more from them as other sides are recruiting so heavily.

He was speaking after the pre-season win over Man City, and said: “The champions have bought three fantastic experienced players.

“I am thinking about West Ham for the first match of the Premier League. They have got Joe Hart, Chicharito and [Marko] Arnautovic. It looks like they are playing to win the Premier League, too.

“The teams are fantastic in the market. I am waiting for a bit more.”

Mourinho has made it clear he does not want to see United held to ransom when it comes to players, but that he expects the side to do better when it comes to their recruitment.

After asking for four players at the start of the summer, Mourinho has now claimed three would be OK – leaving the question of if he wants a winger or a holding midfielder.

Given how well United’s attack has done this pre-season, he may well be holding out for a midfielder, and with Inter Milan trying to hold on to Ivan Perisic, Anthony Martial may profit come the first half of next season.
