According to a number of reports in the Italian press this morning, Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has turned down the latest contract renewal on offer from the Reds.
Can, a 23-year-old German international midfielder, has become a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad at Anfield over recent years, with his power and versatility proving crucial to his side’s push for a top 4 finish in the Premier League last season.
However, the former Bayer Leverkusen standout has just one year remaining on his current contract with Liverpool, and has so far rejected all offers of a renewal.
And, as per a report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, among others in Italy, Can’s decision to rebuff his side’s most recent proposal has alerted Italian giants Juventus, who are now ready to submit their first official offer for the midfield general.
Juve are said to be long-term admirers of the talents of Can, with the Bianconeri very much in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer.
They have reportedly been waiting for the ideal moment to make their move, with the versatile star’s latest contract rejection meaning a 25 million Euro offer from last season’s Champions League finalists is now imminent.
