Timothy Fosu-Mensah is due to join Frank de Boer’s Crystal Palace side from Manchester United on a season long loan, as reported by The Guardian. The 19-year-old, Under-21 Dutch international, will offer versatility to the Palace rearguard.
Having moved to Old Trafford in 2014 from Ajax, he is already known to de Boer who was in charge of the Amsterdam side at the time.
Despite getting a run in the first team under Louis van Gaal, he was less visible under Jose Mourinho last season, gaining only four starts. He was an unused substitute in the Europa League final in May against Ajax in the Friends Arena in Solna, Sweden.
Fosu-Mensah is on contract at Old Trafford until 2020 and will welcome the experience of a more sustained run in the first team of the South London side.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is prepared to go toe-to-toe with Mourinho to avail of the services of the athletic defender.
With Dani Alves having been brought in on a free transfer to PSG from Juventus during the summer, it is likely the Ivory Coast international will move to the Premier League. United though are thought to be the favorites to sign the player.
Elsewhere, Mourinho is set to make an audacious bid to bring Real Madrid star Gareth Bale back to the Premier League. United are holding fire, waiting for Madrid to indicate they are willing to sell. A lot depends on whether Madrid are successful in their bid to sign Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.
