Good news for Arsenal
The Mirror’s John Cross is known for his excellent contacts at the Gunners, and on Friday he’s posted a couple of updates which are likely to get fans excited.
Three weeks before the start of the new Premier League season, Arsenal’s squad is looking in good shape.
Alexandre Lacazette has arrived from Lyon, while it’s beginning to look certain that Mesut Ozil will also remain at the Emirates Stadium in 2017-18.
There’s also positivity that Arsenal can still land Thomas Lemar from Monaco.
As everyone knows, Ozil, like Alexis Sanchez, is in the final year of his current Arsenal deal.
Unlike Sanchez, however, Ozil has attracted less interest from suitors this summer.
That’s lead the Mirror to announce that the German World Cup winner is finally ready to commit his long term future to the Gunners. The tabloid report:
Arsenal are increasingly hopeful they will be able to reach agreement on a new contract with Mesut Ozil.
Ozil has been locked in a contract stand-off for months as he has been demanding £350,000-a-week, while Arsenal have offered £280,000-a-week.
It’s unclear what figure will be settled on, but Ozil is poised to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Thomas Lemar’s transfer
Arsenal has also been linked to Thomas Lemar throughout the summer, and belief has been raised by the Mirror that the Monaco star could move to the Premier League.
