The People’s Elephant tactician won’t fault the performance of his players with their ticket to the group stage secured
Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun is pleased with the People’s Elephant qualification to the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup and won’t complain much about his team lackluster performance against Bidvest Wilts despite a goalless draw.
The People’s Elephant drew 1-1 in Johannesburg against the South African Premier League reigning champions in the first leg and were expected to get a comfortable win in the return leg but Aigbogun pointed that the result they got against the Clever Boys over two legs showed they were equally a good team and should have never been underrated.
“Honestly we wanted to score more but we were okay with the ticket to the group stage,” Aigbogun told the media.
“We will try and enjoy the result of this game today (Wednesday) and think of what we are going to do next later. I have said it from the beginning that Bidvest are a good side and they confirmed my fears with the way they played in both legs.
“We knew the match will be tough right from the outset with Bidvest being the South African league champions. The results we got over the two legs also confirmed our initial fears. We are happy to progress to the group stage of the competition and we shall pick it from there.”
