Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi has agreed personal terms with another club

It’s all gone from good to bad in the space of a few days for Arsenal. This looked to finally be a successful transfer windows for the gunners but that could all be blown out of the window if the allegations about Shkodran Mustafi are to be believed.

Those allegations, of course, are that he has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan; as reported by Sky Sports News and many others.

The aim for this transfer window from an Arsenal perspective was to strengthen their weaker positions and to keep hold of their key players, in particular Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. That was all looking well when they signed a prolific striker in Alexandre Lacazette and a versatile, powerhouse left back in Sead Kolasinac.

However, with the recent reports that the gunners could lose Shkodran Mustafi after just one year at the club, the transfer window could all go pear-shaped.

He arrived in North London at the beginning of this season and the German looked to be the answer to all of Arsenal’s defensive frailties, tallying up an unbeaten run at the start of his Arsenal career.

Shkodran Mustafi formed a solid defensive partnership with the loyal Arsenal Frenchman, Laurent Koscielny. However, as the case with a lot of the Arsenal stars is, the German picked up an injury in the middle of the season and all his good work prior to that was forgotten about almost immediately.

Despite his poor end to the season, the Arsenal faithful would do anything to keep Shkodran Mustafi at the club. However, if this is not possible, what would the gunners need to do in order to fix this mess?

The perfect replacement with Shkodran Mustafi

Some would say it’s an upgrade, others would call it wishful thinking. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Virgil Van Dijk’s future at Southampton.

The two Premier League clubs currently leading the race for the Dutchman’s signature are Liverpool and Chelsea but Arsenal have never been completely excluded from the race.

Michael Gravesande of the BBC recently took to social media to spread some news surrounding the club’s situation with the Southampton defender. He said the club has had a meeting with his representatives.

In my opinion, I don’t think Arsenal can pull of this transfer with the other clubs lurking, which is why it’s incredibly important that Arsenal keep hold of Shkodran Mustafi.
