Yobe Desert Stars midfielder Philip Auta has fired a warning to the rest of the field in Group B of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The attacker made it known that the Damaturu club will battle till the end of the season to save themselves from the drop.
Auta and his teammates have found themselves with Yobe Stars languishing at the bottom of Group B table and seven points off safety.
Out of the 16 matches they have played, Yobe Stars have managed only four wins with two draws and 10 losses.
They ended their poor run however on Sunday when they defeated their visiting FC Ifeanyiubah 2-0 and Auta scored both goals. It was the first win under Taye Yusuf.
“The group is open and full of unpredictability. We will keep on giving our best every day and we hope to be there at the end of the season,” Auta told the league’s official website.
“I hope this result is the turning point we have been looking for. We hope it will bring us good luck at the end of the season.
“We understand the fans are discouraged that is why attendance is poor. I urge them to turn out and support us in our three remaining home games.”
The remaining home games for Auta and Yobe Stars teammates are against Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors.
