Nigeria international forward Samuel Chukwueze played a pivotal role with a goal and assist for ten man Villarreal in a dramatic goal thriller which ended 4-4 against Villarreal.
Barcelona raced into a well-deserved 2-0 lead with Philipe Coutinho and Malcolm scoring the goals before Chukwueze reduced the deficit with a cool finish after his initial effort came off the bar to bring scores to 2-1 before the half time break.
Chukwueze was on hand again with a clever pass with the inside of his foot to send Karl Toko Ekambi clear and the striker produced a stunning finish which caught Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter-Stegen out of guard.
The Nigerian almost put his team 3-2 up but with Ter-Stegen beaten his well-drilled left foot shot came off the bar minutes before Vincent Iborra gave Villarreal the lead for the first time in the game.
Substitute Carlos Bacca thought he has put the game to rest when he scored to put the struggling La Liga side 4-2 up. A lead which they didn’t hold onto for long before substitute Lionel Messi pulled a goal back for the champions.
Luis Suarez rescued a point for the Catalans with a left footed finish from what was virtually the last kick of an entertaining encounter ahead of their top of the table clash against Atletico Madrid this weekend.
