Former Crystal Palace goalkeeper joins Notts County after leaving Chelmsford

Goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons has signed for League Two side Notts County after leaving Chelmsford City.

The 23-year-old, who spent several seasons at Crystal Palace before joining former Eagles boss Dougie Freedman at Bolton Wanderers in 2014 following his release from the Eagles, has become Notts County’s seventh summer signing.

Fitzsimons, who was playing in the National League South last season with Chelmsford City, has spent time on trial with Notts County this summer and played in the side’s pre-season friendly against Basford on Saturday, before putting pen to paper.

And his new boss, former Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan, says he expects Fitzsimons to challenge Adam Collin for the number one spot.
