Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson Comments On New Signings

Leeds United have signed nine players this summer, seven of whom are new faces.

Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has told LUTV that head coach Thomas Christiansen has a “very good group” of players to work with, and believes that new additions will have no problem adapting.

It has been a very busy summer for Leeds who, in addition to welcoming Christiansen following Garry Monk’s resignation, have also brought seven new faces into the club.

Ezgjan Alioski, Samu Saiz and Caleb Ekuban all joined the Whites last week, following the likes of Vurnon Anita, Felix Wiedwald, Madger Gomes and Mateuz Klich to Yorkshire.

Christiansen and Director of Football Victor Orta could well make further additions for Leeds – who are in Austria at the moment undergoing a training camp – before the club’s Championship opener away to newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers on August 6.

But even if they do, Antonsson, who joined from Kalmaar under Monk last summer, is confident that they will be joining a very warm and welcoming bunch of players.

“It’s very important to get the group together and I think it’s a very good group,” he told LUTV.

“It’s easy to come in here and everybody is going to take care of one another so it’s no problem for them [new signings].”

It remains to be seen whether Antonsson is retained by Christiansen beyond the summer.

He has had a decent pre-season campaign so far, scoring in a couple of friendlies, but one goal in 16 Championship appearances last term might suggest that the Swedish striker could struggle once again in English football if he is kept on.
