Riyad Mahrez has not turned up for the first day of Leicester City training fuelling speculation of his transfer to Premier League vials Arsenal.
The rumours linking the Moroccan player to a switch to the North London club has been reported for several weeks but now, following reports from Football.London, the intensity of that speculation has grown.
The summer window started with the 26-year-old handing in a transfer request to Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare after the side failed to capitalised on their Premier League winning 2015/16 season and finished last campaign 49 points off the top in 11th place.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was interested in the tricky winger this time last year but was eventually snubbed by the player, much like that of Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, who was linked to the F.A Cup winners during the European Championships in France.
The purchase will add to the imminent move of Lyon forward 26-year-old Alexandre Lacazette, who is thought to be a Gunner player within a matter of 48 hours.
