Liverpool owners issue statement insisting there is NO chance Philippe Coutinho will leave Anfield this month

Tom Werner and principle owner John Henry will not budge in their stance that Barca target Coutinho is going nowhere

Philippe Coutinho will NOT be leaving Liverpool this summer under any circumstances.

That was the emphatic message this morning for the club’s American owners, who slammed the door shut on Barcelona’s attempts to sign the Brazilian .

Owners FSG have become increasingly frustrated and annoyed by the Catalan club’s attempts to prise their star asset away from Anfield.

And today they have moved once and for all the insist there is NO chance of Coutinho leaving

The statement read: “We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”

They have made clear even if Barca double their offer of £90m for Coutinho – or offer the whole £200m they received for the sale of Neymar to PSG – the Brazil international will not be allowed to leave.

Coutinho has a five year contract, and he has been told even if he puts in a transfer request, it will be turned down.

Henry has been adamant before – and stuck to his guns despite pressure to sell. He told Luis Suarez he would not be allowed to leave to join Arsenal under any circumstances, and was true to his word despite intense pressure from the Uruguay star.

The announcement this morning rules out any chance of Coutinho leaving, and Barca will now turn their sights to other targets such as Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele and Paulo Dybala of Juventus.
