FS Metta of Latvia defender Lukman Zakari says he wasn’t surprise about the link up play between Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen in the Nigeria U23 4-0 win over Libya in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Nwakali has a hand in two of the three goals scored by the in form Osimhen with his pass for the third goal the highlight of what was a master class performance from the former U17 Most Valuable Player (MVP).
He located Osimhen with a well weighted over the top pass which pierced the defence of Libya open for Osimhen to pounce for his hattrick. While most Nigerians were stunned by their understanding, Zakari who was with the duo at U17 and 20 level says it’s nothing new.
” I can’t say am surprise. The understanding has been there for a very long time. They know each other very well. Osimhen particularly can play with Nwakali with his eyes close”, Zakari told Sports&study.org.
” Their relationship is same off the pitch. Samuel Chukwueze is another who understands how to play with Osimhen. In the midfield back then Kingsley Michael and Nwakali so know themselves that the players in front just need to make runs for the pass”.
