Swansea City 19 year old forward Joel Asoro is presently locked in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over a possible switch of allegiance from Sweden where he is a youth international to Nigeria.
Asoro reportedly met with coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun in England and positive talks were held regarding a switch of allegiance with Aigbogun keen on bolstering his options in attack ahead of the World Youth Championship in Poland.
As at the time of filing in this report the extent to which talks have progressed wasn’t available to us but it appears all will become clear when the Nigerian team secure a training camp in Europe ahead of the World Cup.
This season 19 year old Asoro has impressed for Championship side Swansea City particularly in the game against Manchester City in the FA Cup where he was introduced as a substitute as his team threw away a two goal lead to lose 2-3 against the champions of England.
So far Asoro has played ten games in the English Championship with two assists to his name with most of his game time coming as a winger on the right and not in his favourite position as the main striker.
