Manchester United eye swoop for Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra

Manchester United are lining up a summer move for Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra, according to reports.United are keen on the 26-year-old, who moved to the Bundesliga from Barcelona last summer, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

BVB are unlikely to let him go cheap, but the Manchester Evening News report that Mourinho is eyeing up the Spaniard to partner Victor Lindelof at the back.Mourinho is understood to want to reinforce the defence this summer and the United boss believes Bartra is an ideal fit according to the report.

United had wanted to bring Michael Keane back to the club despite signing Lindelof but the Burnley defender agreed to move to Everton instead.

In other transfer news, Everton are confident of signing United captain Wayne Rooney this summer, according to talksport.

Rooney has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with clubs in China, America and Europe thought to be interested in the 31-year-old.

But sources close to Everton have told talksport that it is ‘almost inevitable’ Rooney will return to Goodison Park.
