Sporting Lisbon’s demands meant that Watford were able to sign Marvin Zeegelaar on transfer deadline day, otherwise he may have ended up in Spain.
The Dutchman signed on the final day of the transfer window and will provide much-needed cover for Jose Holebas at left-back, but it could have been a different destination for Zeegelaar if Sporting had not been ‘inflexible’ in negotiations with another club.
