Nigerian-Born Winger Poised To Debut For Liverpool In UEFA Youth League

Liverpool’s roster for the group stage of the UEFA Youth League has been announced, with a player of Nigerian descent included in the squad list.
It is all but confirmed that Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye will make his debut in the prestigious youth competition, as he has been named to the 40-player squad list.

An analysis of the Reds roster revealed that the names of four goalkeepers, eleven defenders, eighteen midfielders and seven attackers were submitted to the governing body of football in Europe.

Born February 14, 1999, Bobby Adekanye is eligible to participate in the Youth League as he was born after January 1, 1999, though he has been promoted to Liverpool U23 squad with effect from the 2017-2018 season.

The Netherlands youth international can also represent Liverpool in the Champions League having spent more than two years at Anfield, but will no longer be eligible to play in the UEFA Youth League if he makes three appearances for the first team in the Champions League or Europa League this season.

A product of the youth team of Barcelona, Adekanye joined Liverpool in July 2015 from PSV Eindhoven.
