NPL Wrap: Academy teams continue hot-streak

The Central Coast Mariners Academy men’s and women’s teams have claimed convincing wins with the men downing Western Sydney Wanderers Academy 3-0 and the women beating Marconi Stallions 4-2.

Our first-grade men put three goals past their Hyundai A-League counterparts in the NPL 2 with a crucial win over the Western Sydney Wanderers Academy.

Mariners Academy top goal scorer, Emmanuel Peters continued his goal scoring run with the first goal of the match in the fourth minute of play. The goal was enough to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead at the break and a slight advantage.

After a tight battle to start the second half, Charles William doubled the Yellow & Navy’s lead in the 75thminute. New Canberra recruit Mikey Katsoulis played creator, slotting the through ball to a charging William who finished smartly to make it 2-0.

Then the game was put to bed in the final minute of play when Kyle Johnson bagged his second goal in as many weeks to put the result beyond doubt and seal a 3-0 win.
