Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be joining Chelsea or any other side this summer, with the striker set to stay at Borussia Dortmund.
The future of the Gabon international at Dortmund has been called into question this week after he was linked with a move to Chelsea despite the striker still having three years left on his current deal with the German giants.
But Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is thought to still be targeting a move for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata after missing out on a deal for Romelu Lukaku, who last week joined Manchester United – with the Premier League champions believed to have not held talks for Aubameyang.
Indeed, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachum Watzke insisted the club have not received any official bids for the player but would wait a few more days for suitable offers for the 28-year-old to arrive.
But Standard Sport understands that despite Dortmund’s willingness to entertain bids, Aubameyang will stay at the club this summer.
The news means Chelsea are likely to have a tough task on their hands as they look to strengthen their attacking positions before the start of the new season, with AC Milan having confirmed their interest in Morata.
Chelsea’s current first-choice striker Diego Costa is set to miss the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East as the Blues continue negotiations with Atletico Madrid over a transfer while the futures of Michy Batshuayi and Loic Remy remain uncertain.
