While Nigerians are still basking in the euphoria of Victor Osimhen’s hattrick that helped the U23 progress to the next round of the Africa U23 Cup of Nations Qualifiers at the expense of Libya on a 4-2 aggregate score, the man who discovered him says there’s more to his game than goals.
Emmanuel Amunike the present coach of Tanzania who has successfully qualified them for the Africa Cup of Nations after a 39 year wait discovered and nutured Osimhen to global recognition in 2015 at the World Youth Championship, where he emerged as top scorer for eventual champions Nigeria.
Amunike while reacting to the hattrick scored by the 20 year old who’s on loan to Charleroi of Belgium from German side Wolfsburg said Osimhen’s game isn’t all about goals not minding his 12 league goals this season in Belgium.
” Osimhen has grown in the last few months and his progress excites me a lot. I feel he has the potential to be one of the best players if he continue to work hard and also listen to advice”, Amunike told Sports&study.org.
” His goal record for club and country this season is very commendable but I can also tell you there’s more to his game than goals. Look at the back heel pass for the third goal for Nigeria in the win over Libya. He is capable of producing such kind of magic especially when you least expected “.
