Thomas Christiansen describes Victor Orta as Wikipedia of football

Thomas Christiansen was appointed the Leeds United head coach in the summer.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that Victor Orta is the Wikipedia of football.

Orta was appointed as Leeds’s director of football earlier this summer, while a few weeks later Christiansen became the club’s head coach.

Christiansen replaced Garry Monk at Elland Road, with the Englishman subsequently taking the managerial role at Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

Leeds have done very well so far this season, as the Whites sit at the top of the Championship table at the moment.

There seems to be a good relationship between head coach Christiansen and director of football Orta.

A number of players were signed in the summer transfer window, including Samuel Saiz and Felix Wiedwald, and they have done quite well so far.

Christiansen has spoken highly of Orta, and has also revealed that he spoke to fellow Spaniard Roberto Martinez before he took the Leeds head coach role.

Martinez, now the manager of the Belgium national football team, knows English football inside out, having been in charge of Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton.

When asked who he spoke to before heading to Leeds, Christiansen told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “I had my conversations with Roberto Martinez.

“But if there is something I need, if I speak to Victor Orta, he is the Wikipedia of football.”
