Tottenham are reportedly ready to try a late move to hijack Leicester City’s £20million transfer move for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho.
The 20-year-old is attracting plenty of interest this summer after being allowed to leave City, with European giants Monaco and Borussia Dortmund also said to be tracking him.
However, Leicester have looked the big favourites for Iheanacho’s signature in recent weeks, with the Foxes looking to strengthen up front after a slightly disappointing season last term.
Tottenham could yet make things difficult for the Foxes, however, as they feel they may have a chance of hijacking the deal due to City’s interest in right-back Kyle Walker.
The Spurs defender has been linked as a top target for City boss Pep Guardiola for much of the summer, though it has taken some time for the transfer to go anywhere.
Tottenham now hope that by offering £20m for Iheanacho, they could land themselves an exciting young striker whilst also speeding up the process to offload Walker to the Etihad Stadium, according to The Sun.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had a quiet summer so far, with no signings coming in despite the club looking just one or two smart buys away from winning the title after running Chelsea close last season.
