Spanish La Liga side Villarreal has told rave of the moment Samuel Chukwueze to pick between representing Nigeria at the U20 World Youth Championship or the Africa Cup of Nations as they will only allow him play in one of the two tournaments.
Chukwueze has played for the Nigeria senior national team and also the U23s but also submitted his credentials to be registered by Nigeria U20 ahead of their campaign at the World Youth Championship.
As expected Villarreal have categorically communicated to the representatives of the 19 year old that he can only play in one of the tournaments because of the closeness of the dates between both tournaments.
This same year he will likely be pushing to represent the Nigeria U23 team in November if they are able to scale through Sudan in the final round of qualifiers for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
The likelihood of all of this happening plus the fact that he is expected to resume early for pre-season training has made Villarreal to stand their ground leaving the decision in the hands of the Nigerian coaches to determine the team that need him most.
