West Ham fans react to Reece Burke’s performance against Sturm Graz II

West Ham United played out a stalemate with their young opponents earlier this week.

West Ham United and Sturm Graz II played out a 0-0 draw in the Hammers’ first pre-season friendly of the summer, and while manager Slaven Bilic will be disappointed not to oversee a victory there were some positives to take from the encounter.

One of those was the performance of Reece Burke, who is highly rated at the London Stadium and who played the first 45 minutes before being replaced by Angelo Ogbonna after the break.

The 20-year-old will be hoping to impress this summer after spending previous campaigns on loan at Bradford City and Wigan Athletic.

The centre-back excelled at the former but was blighted by injury at the Latics and managed only 10 appearances for the recently relegated club.

Now he has the chance to stake a claim for a regular place in West Ham’s first-team and if he continues in this vein that should be a no-brainer despite his relative youth.

Burke has 12 senior appearances for West Ham under his belt to date and he will be hoping to become the first of the next wave to take the club forward under Bilic.

After Monday’s match we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans thought of Burke’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
