West Ham United: Obiang signs new Hammers deal

WEST HAM UNITED have announced that Spanish midfielder, Pedro Obiang, has signed a new five-year contract with the London Stadium side.

Obiang arrived at West Ham from Italian side Sampdoria in summer 2015 and has made more than 50 appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side. Speaking to West Ham TV about the new deal, Obiang said: “Over the next five years, we can achieve many, many things but we are going to start from today.

“Of course, I trust the Club and the situation and I know I am in a very good team at a very good Club.

“I have a lot of teammates here and I talked to Manu [Lanzini], Adrian and Angelo [Ogbonna] over the summer when we were on holidays and that’s maybe a little bit of the reason I signed a new contract is because I prefer to be here than in another place, because I feel like part of a family here.

“I think here we can do many things. When I start to play, I have confidence and I don’t know why the situation changed [last season]. I had the possibility to start and to demonstrate what I wanted to demonstrate in my first season here, but for many reasons I didn’t do. Now I have time to do it.”
